 Virtues of Shabbat

The night before the 14th day of the month of Shaban is called 'Lailatun Min Nisfi Shaban'. To the Muslim Ummah this night is known as Shaba Barat or Lailatul Barat. Be it right or not, on this day the Muslim Ummah indulges in various rituals. However, it is proved by the hadith of the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, that the virtues and dignity of this night are very high.

On this blessed night of Lailatum Min Nisfa Sha'ban, Allah Almighty forgives all those who seek forgiveness except those who set up partners with Allah (polytheists) and those who harbor enmity.

In the current Muslim society, there is excess and laziness in worshiping the month of Shaban and Lailatul Baraat; Nevertheless, according to the hadith of Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, the importance of Lailatul Baraat is very high.

As there is evidence of Hadith regarding this night's worship, it is not right to go to the mosque on the 14th day of the night of the Muslim Ummah, ``Lailatun Min Nisfi Sha'ban'', and observe the customs. In the same way, because no alam-worship can be performed on this night, negligence or neglect will not be right.

Islam has provided people with a balanced way of life. Therefore, according to the Muhammadan Sahih Hadith, it is necessary for the Ummah to engage in worship on the night of the 14th day of the month of Sha'ban to attain closeness to Allah.

At night, Allah announced general amnesty for His servants. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said, "On this night Allah forgives more slaves than the wool of the goats of Banu Kalb." (Ibn Majah: 1389) But some special people are deprived of this forgiveness. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said, 'Allah forgives all His servants in the middle of the night of Sha'ban. But he does not forgive the polytheist, the jealous, the sorcerer, the adulterer, the disobedient child of parents and the unjust murderer.' (Ibn Majah: 1390)

Hazrat Mu'adh Ibn Jabal Radiyallahu Anhu of Lailatul Barat said, The Prophet, may God's prayers and peace be upon him, said, "Allah Ta'ala looks (mercifully) on the creation on the night of half-Sha'ban (the night of the fourteenth day of the month of Sha'ban) and everyone except the polytheists and the haters." Forgive.'

1. Fasting on Shabbat:

In a hadith narrated from the mother of the Ummah Hazrat Ayesha (R.A.), she said, I did not see the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) fast in any month other than the month of Ramadan, and I did not see him fast more than the month of Sha'ban. - Sahih Bukhari and Muslim

2. Nafal prayers at night and during the day

Because in the Hadith of Ibn Majah, Hazrat Ali Ibn Abu Taleb Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, "When the night of the fifteenth of Sha'ban (the night before the fourteenth day) comes, spend this night in worship and fast during the day." . Because, on this night, after sunset, Allah Ta'ala first comes to the sky and says, "Is there anyone who asks for forgiveness?" I will forgive him. Are there any applicants? I will give him sustenance. In this way, Allah Ta'ala continued to call until Sadiq in the morning.' (Ibn Majah: 1388)

3. Reciting the Qur'an and praying

Reciting the Qur'an: Reciting the Qur'an more and more during this night is a reward. Reciting one letter of the Qur'an gives 10 good deeds. It is also good to read dua on this night. They are - Allahamma Innaka Afuyun, Tuhibbul Afwa, Fafu Anni. That is, O Allah, You are Forgiving, You love forgiveness, so forgive me. It is mustahab to make one more special prayer on this night. The Bengali translation of which is, 'O Allah, if you write our name among the unfortunate, erase it and write it among the fortunate. And if our name is written among the lucky ones, then keep it. Because with you is the original book.' (Mirkat: 3/197; Hiliya: 4/103)

4. Visiting the grave: On this night, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) prayed for the forgiveness of the Ummah in Jannatul Baqi. Hazrat Ayesha (R.A.) said, 'One night I did not find the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) and kept looking for him. Then I found him in Jannat al-Baqi with his hands raised.' (Ibn Majah: 1389). From this we can ascertain the matter of grave pilgrimage this night.

Shabbat is prohibited

Shabba Barat is a virtuous rosary. It is not permissible to do any dirty and dirty work on this night. It is accepted in Islam to avoid that which is harmful and creates fear for the society and the state. Eg - Bursting of firecrackers and crackers: There is a section of the society, who throw firecrackers and burst crackers on this night with caps on their heads and tasbeeh in their hands. But through this panic spread in the society. Old people and children can't go out because of fear. Due to this, fires can also occur everywhere. So doing these things is not accepted by Islam.

Illumination: In some regions many houses, mosques and religious buildings are decorated with illuminations on this night. But this night has nothing to do with them. So it is included in wastage. Allah says, "Do not be wasteful, verily the wasteful is the brother of Satan." (Surah Bani Israel)

Making halwa-rooties: It is popular among the people - no one has it in Shave Barat. Actually this is a baseless statement. Because this night has nothing to do with halwa bread.

Not committing unforgivable sins: We commit many sins unknowingly. But let me not be among the sinners whom Allah does not forgive in this glorious night. They are - Jealous, sorcerers, swindlers, disobedient to parents, adulterers etc.
